The CIA has been in the news a lot lately, but recent events have taken the spotlight away from the department’s big news: its new boss. Petraeus, who took over Stanley McChrystal’s command as the Commander of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan, was not the clear choice for the job. Some say that Petraeus will fill this position well because he will be a team player, and will be able to better affect Afghan peace. Others say that the counterinsurgency tactic failed, and putting its author in as the head of CIA operations makes for a bleak future, and also that this creates a strong marriage between the CIA and the military, which is not exactly good.
