After the sudden firing of women’s basketball Head Coach Brumfield at the end of the last season, the Kalamazoo College Athletic Department immediately began the search for a replacement.
Three months later, the women’s basketball team is now examining three different coaching prospects in a hands-on way. The coach candidates will host a practice for the players and the Athletic Department will receive feedback from those who attend.
Senior Courtney Kaplan, who will graduate before the new season begins but still attended the practices, said: “I can tell you I really like one of the candidates so far, and after going through two coaches in my four years, I think she would be a good fit. I’m excited to meet the other candidates this week so they can make an official decision. I want to come back and see this program turned around!”
The first two practices occurred Monday and Tuesday of this week and the final one is on Thursday. The Athletic Department will then examine experience, previous records, interviews and player feedback in order to make a decision.
