Senior baseball captain Scott Devine ’15 is looking forward to graduating this Spring, but not before he gets to spend one more season with his teammates, or as he calls them, family.
Devine is originally from Plymouth, Mich. where he attended Salem High School. Before coming to K he was a multi-sport athlete playing baseball, football and golf. Devine chose to come to K because he could continue his baseball career and still pursue challenging academics.
On the field he bats, throws right-handed and plays in the outfield. In the last two seasons he led the team in runs batted in. He also served as co-captain last season and will again for this upcoming season.
Devine recalled one his best on field moments in his sophomore season. In a difficult season for the team he hit a game winning sacrifice fly against Adrian and was greeted afterwards by a big bear hug from Coach Mike Ott.
Besides many athletic successes, Devine has also had divine success in the classroom. He is a business major who recently wrote his SIP on strategic marketing plans for HUMANeX VENTURES, the company he currently works for.
Devine says that he has specifically enjoyed his classes with Professor Hannah McKinney. He said “Econometrics was fun and applicable, we got to do a lot of hands on stuff.”
Outside of class and baseball Devine has participated in the business and economics club and the badminton club. He also enjoys kayaking, skiing, and considers himself a mean omelet maker.
