Icy Conditions Cause 6-Car Pileup on Academy Street

A six car pile up occurred on Academy Street Sunday night; no one was injured.

The initial crash occurred when a driver lost control on the ice and hit a parked car.  Campus security arrived on scene and tried to get the situation under control, however two more drivers also lost control and crashed.

“The icy conditions were the reason behind the whole thing, we just couldn’t get it salted quick enough,” Campus security guard Paul Davis said.

Following the wreck, officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety arrived, blocked off the accidents and salted the whole street.
