On the third floor of Dewing a few people took the time to write their thoughts on the back of the desk in front of them.
However, after a review of all the buildings on campus, it is apparent that there is very little graffiti at Kalamazoo College. Dewing seems to have the highest proliferation of messages, ranging from the profane to the obvious.
On one particular desk the message “I’m so bored” seemed to have been traced and re-traced for a long period of time.
In the women’s locker room in Anderson gym, someone scratched out “Health,” from “Health-O-Meter,” on the scale. The socially conscious defacer stated that “health ≠ weight” to emphasize the reclassification.
For whatever reason, K students mark our desks with lovesick hearts or witty quips all that often. As entertaining as well-drawn graffiti can be, maybe its absence in our classrooms isn’t such a bad thing.
