Is voting a right or a privilege? Republicans in Florida are proposing a bill that would cut early voting time in half (from 14 to 7 days) and would impose fines on voter registration drives. Early voting is a major factor for Democrats in many elections, particularly Obama’s presidential election, and fining voter registration groups just hurts everyone. College students in Florida are also worried because many students update their voter information, like their addresses, on the same day they cast their ballots. The new bill would require those updating information last minute to cast only a provisional vote, and students are worried those votes won’t fully count. Read the articles here and here
