As part of April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Kalamazoo College will be hosting an event called Take Back the Night. Take Back the Night is an international movement that has been around since the 1970’s to bring awareness to and to end sexual, relationship, and domestic violence in all forms. Our event will be held on April 25th (5th Week Tuesday) starting at 6:30 PM on the Lower Quad. There will be community and campus organizations tabling and at 7:00 student speakers will share statements. After the speakers, everyone is invited to attend either an Open Reflection Space in the ARCUS Center or a Guided Discussion space in the Hicks Banquet Hall. There will be confidential resources available for individuals to speak to throughout the night as well. This campus event is open to all members of the Kalamazoo College community and we hope you will attend.
If you are interested in speaking at Take Back the Night, please contact Jesse Andersen at k15ja01 or Paige Tobin at k15pt01 by the end of 4th week (4/21). This deadline is completely flexible and we emphasize that all stories and people are important. This is a space to address all forms of sexual violence that occur in all communities.
Other student organizers include: Emily Kowey, Ethel Mogilevsky, Sophie Higdon, Dani Gin, Rebecca Guralnick, Rachel Wasserman, Clare Jensen, and Bianca Delgado.
