Women’s Swimming and Diving Defeats Hope

The Kalamazoo College Women’s Swimming and Diving team was victorious on the road in Holland with a 169-131 victory over Hope College.

On the way to their win, the Hornets won all but four of the day’s events, including multiple victories for a number of Hornets.

Two seniors led the way for Kalamazoo, Tristyn Edsall K’17 won 4 events, and fellow senior Colleen Orwin also won 4, including the 400 yard medley relay in which both seniors participated.

Along with the 400 yard medley relay, Edsall won the 50 and 100 yard freestyle races and the 400 yard freestyle relay.

Orwin’s victories came in the 400 yard medley relay, the 100 and 200 yard butterfly races, the 200 yard individual medley.

The senior pair have each won the MIAA Most Valuable Swimmer award, Edsall in 2014-15, and Orwin in 2015-16. Both have also received all-MIAA recognition in all three of their seasons at K.

The team is back in action this Saturday at home in a meet with Saginaw Valley State at 1:00 p.m.
